Nawaz Sharif of PML-N (Pakistan Muslim League) is himself the life long leader of his party. This is not a constitutional office he holds. Democracy which he claims he is fighting for, is not even an issue with him or his family who hold all important offices in the party. His younger brother Shahbaz Sharif is the Chief Minister of the biggest province, Punjab and the President of the party. The sons of Nawaz Sharif are all in the sprawling family business (in Dubai and England) and therefore have not been bestowed upon with offices of the party but his nephew, Hamza Sharif who is politically orientated is a member of National assembly. His in law, Mr. Ishaq Dar is a senator and a member of his kitchen cabinet. Husband of one of his cousins, Sohail Zia butt is the member of Central executive committee of PML(N). A sister’s son, Omar Sohail butt was chosen to become a MNA and another sister’s son, Khurram Sohail is ‘serving’ the nation in the capacity of member Punjab assembly. His wife’s nephew Mohsin Latif was made member provincial assembly and another near relative Bilal Yasin a MNA. Mian Nawaz Sharif made his son in law, Captain (retired) Safdar, got elected from Rawalpindi as MNA and when a seat of national assembly got vacant in the Mansehra district of NWFP, he gave the ticket to his brother Tahir Ali. But the guy who suffered in the hands of government agencies and was victimized, Siddiq ul Farooq was neither given a ticket for Rawalpindi or Mansehra. Even though his services for the party were commendable but he is not the part of the “family” and neither belongs to the ‘elite’ rich industrial / feudal group within the party.

PML_N was never a democratic party in real. It is just befooling people by sensational dialogues wearing the mask of a democratic party. A party flourished by a General and supporting right wing of extremists can never be a democratic party. PML-N is quick enough to point finger at other character but never intended to look into its own mirror. Infact PML-N is as crooked as dog’s hind legs. They not only built an industrial empire for Ittifaq group only, but also helped grow some other business empires too (like Mian Mansha Group) to become Multi-Multi-billionaire from billionaire within years, so that unanimous help and influence of such ‘non-state-non-political’ actors may be available to them all the time (such support was later tested and proved when exiled Sharifs pumped money into Lawyers movement and then came back from exile recently. Nawaz Sharif is also very well known to introduce the concept of ‘political bribery’ in Pakistan. He distributed 1000s of plots all over Pakistan in return or in hope of Political favors that he and his party needed. Moreover he is also said to have distributed billions of rupees within political leaders to maintain his ill political practices and regime. Moreover, Sharif family’s involvement in money laundering is immense. They are said to have laundered billions of dollars out of Pakistan during their tenures, especially the last one… The list of corruption is long and astonishing. Even if we neglect more than 30 industries within country that Sharifs own, their corruption is still in Billions of dollars!!

Dear Aashir. Many thanks for a very informative post. About Mian Mansha; this is his image and information about his and his ‘partner’ Nawaz Sharif’s mega stroke of luck. I am sure the readers will find your list very helpful. It indeed portrays how a politician in Pakistan can mint billions and still be the ‘honest’ leader of the masses. I wonder when will people realize that giving power in the hands of such is a catastrophe.

I totally agree with you but you have forgotten to mention the name of the very important personality Javed Hashmi, who has been completely derailed by His Majesty, His excelency MNS, but history will always remember him as a man of words and a politically oriented honest guy, indeed a true friend of PML-N not Mian Nawaz Sharif.

Dear Saqib. I totally agree with you that PML(N) and its life-long ‘quaid’ Mian Nawaz Sharif are unfortunate to have neglected a sincere and dedicated political leader like Javed Hashmi. He suffered in the hands of the dictator (Gen. Musharraf) but never bowed and never compromised on his faith and commitment to Mian Nawaz Sharif. But as is the case with hundreds other dedicated workers, Javed Hashmi has also been cornered into the league of no-body in the family clout of Sharifs. Its pathetic that Pakistani people never realized that voting for these family oriented monsters is not going to give them good governance in future also.
