What are the signs of an Ulcer?

The ulcers inside our stomachs are termed as “Gastric Ulcers” ,(or when they are in small intestine they are called as Duodenal ulcers). The most common features (symptoms) of these ulcers are:

1. Heartburn and dyspepsia,
2. Hunger pains, one feels pain in the pit of the stomach if remains hungry for longer periods of time,
3. Relief by milk or antacids,
4. Passing of blood in stools (fresh blood or black stools),
5. Nausea and vomiting,
6. Frequent indigestion.

All these and a host of other symptoms should make us seek medical advice. This is a treatable disease and if we are negligent for longer periods of time, some of them can become malignant. So be careful when dealing with them. Stress is one of the major known causes of these Ulcers. Please avoid stress and spicy/ fried foods. Lots of milk and fresh food rich in fiber is the best preventive method
